The card index system instituted by Judge Churchman to keep tab on old offenders in City Court was worked to the limit today when it showed the record of Andrew Crumlish, charged with disorderly conduct, to be bad. Peter F. Benkowski, a merchant at Heald street and New Castle avenue, the prosecuting witness, told of Andrew cursing him last evening. The record was then produced. It showed Crumlish had been before the court three times this year.
The same system showed that John Carr had been arrested three times before on a charge of drunkenness, and today John was fined $10 and costs for drunkenness.
Charles Quigley, an old offender, said he had been arrested twice since last October, but after looking at the record, Judge Churchman said Charles had been arrested three times since April for drunkenness. Today he was fined $10 and costs.
