AMERICUS KIWANIANS
TO SEND DELEGATES
TO MEET AT ATLANTA

Convention Assembles May 28 for Session of Four Days, Ending May 31
FINE PROGRAM ARRANGED
Delegates Will Join in Celebration of National Decoration Day, May 30

Americus Kiwanis club will be represented at the seventh annual International Kiwanis club convention in Atlanta May 28-31, Secretary Bradley Hogg announced today.

Delegates who will represent the club at the Atlanta meet are Bradley Hogg, Dr. Carl W. Minor, and Stephen Pace and Rev. John M. Outler are alternates. Besides there are a number of club members who will also attend, and in order to assure accommodations for all who will go Secretary Hogg has arranged to reserve hotel rooms for all who notify him at once.

Already reservations have been made for Dr. and Mrs. Carl W. Minor, J. Lewis Ellis, Bradley Hogg, Emory Rylander, Evan Mathis, Mr. and Mrs. W. Fred Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Middleton McDonald. Miss Susan Stallings, Miss Melva Clark, besides a number of others have indicated their intention to attend the convention.

An outstanding feature of the convention will be the first official celebration in a large way anywhere in the South of National Decoration day on May 30th, when Kiwanians at Atlanta will join various patriotic bodies in an imposing ceremony to be staged at Piedmont Park.

The Southern states have just observed their own Memorial day, dedicated to the soldiers who fought for the "Lost Cause," but Southern Kiwanians, and virtually every civic organization, have joined enthusiastically in the opportunity to pay a tribute to the memory of the men who wore the blue, and to the heroes of the World War. Representatives of every state in the Union will share in the exercises, and the Kiwanians from Canada will bring wreaths to adorn the monuments to American soldiers.

The Kiwanis International convention, it is now assured, will be the largest ever held by the organization. More than 3,000 registrations having been recorded a month in advance of the opening date, May 28. Twelve special trains, including one from the Pacific Coast and another from Canada, are scheduled to bear delegates and visitors.

Virtually all of the thousand Kiwanis clubs will be represented.

The convention committees at Atlanta are making especially elaborate preparations for the entertainment features, including motor tours through the battlefields which surround the city and where were fought the battles which marked the end of the War Between the States.

National Memorial day, May 30, will be observed with elaborate ceremonies in which representatives of North and South will join.
