New London, April 26.

We hear from Stratford, that the Rev. Doctor Johnson has taken a House in that Town for the Dean of Limerick, whom he expects daily, he being appointed by the King to inspect into the State of the Episcopal Churches on the Continent, and make Return annually from this Colony. He is to continue in this Office four Years... Whether this Office is to be established, or whether it is only to prepare the Way for an American Bishop, we do not yet learn: But this is evident, that the present Method of Information, (by the Missionaries in their Letters to the Hon. Society) renders it highly necessary that there should be some other Way than what has been usually practiced, for a right Information of the Episcopal Churches in these Colonies, and the Conduct of their Missionaries, and the
