To the PRINTERS.

GENTLEMEN,

Be kind enough to oblige a customer, by inserting the following piece.

LIONEL.
ANACROSTIC.

BENEATH a canopy of royal State
Every beauteous nymph was sat;
The little god around them flew,
Surveyed their charms, and brought to view
Every grace that in them shone.
Yet one excelled, and she alone.
The famed bright Venus from the skies
O'er dusky regions downward flies,
Minerva too, both jealous grown:
Kind Heaven sent a challenge down
(Inform'd of such superior worth)
Nor thought a mortal could have birth,
Such wisdom, beauty, here on earth.
