Former Kingston Man in Trouble.

Col. J. P. Parker has handed us a copy of the San Diego, California, Evening Tribune, which contains the following:

"The preliminary examination of R. P. Cowley on charge of murder for the fatal stabbing of Frank Wessock in a waterfront shack on the afternoon of July 4, was called in Justice Solon Bryan's court this morning, It was brought out that the parties were both drunk, and Cowley claimed that he struck Wessock with the large blade of a pocketknife in selfdefense after he (Cowley) had been badly beaten by Wessock. Cowley's face bore evidence of a terrific beating. The preliminary examination was not concluded at this morning's session of the court, and was continued for further hearing till the afternoon."
