The American Legion held their regular meeting at Woodman Hall Wednesday evening. The meeting was devoted to a business session and the report of several committees.
The committee on securing Commercial Club members reported very favorably on that work and said they had found practically every business man in town willing to join in and help on whatever proposition came up.
A committee on Memorial Day observance has been appointed and they will report and devise plans for fittingly celebrating the day.
Mark Watrous spoke before the meeting on the Rio Grande water controversy and explained the points at issue and asked the support of the Legion for the valley, and that Legion members make it a point to explain the situation whenever the opportunity arose.
The Monte Vista Legion have taken a hand in the Noigel Razab contest and have three local contestants out for the honor of Sheba and the diamond ring which goes to the winner. The local contest will close Saturday night and the girl with the highest number of tickets to her credit will be the Legion candidate in the contest from Monte Vista. The three contestants in the running are Gladys McCormack, Anna Lee Munsell and Norrine Cunningham.
Monte Vista day at the Noigel Razab carnival has been changed from Tuesday to Wednesday, May 14.
H. J. Igo was a candidate for initiation and was admitted to membership in the local post.
