MADRID, May 23. The 5th Instant an Express dispatched from Ceuta brought Advice, that Don Antonio de Mendoza, Commandant of the Cavalry in that Place, having marched silently with 36 Troopers and some Foot Soldiers to the Mouth of the River of Tetuan, surprised a Band of Moors guarding three Galliots of Morocco, which with some others at Tangiers were preparing to make a Descent: That these Moors having dreaded our Cavalry, retired towards their Ships, leaving in their Flight about 20 of their Men dead on the Spot; and while our Troops were pursuing them, their Comrades took Shelter under the Cannon of their Castle, whose Fire our Men sustained for some Time.
