Cotton Fire Near Taylor.
Special to the Gazette.
Taylor, Tex., Oct. 21.-One mile south of Elgin, on the Taylor, Bastrop and Houston Railroad yesterday afternoon, a car loaded with cotton caught fire from sparks thrown by the engine. Sixteen bales were saved uninjured and two scorched bales. Running the train into Elgin the burning car was side-tracked and ditched. The car, with eleven bales of cotton, were totally destroyed. No damage to track except cutting of side-track in order to ditch the burning car. No trains delayed by this occurrence.
