Fugitive Slave Law in Rhode-Island,—The subject of the Fugitive Slave Law having been referred to a special committee of the Rhode-Island Legislature, they have reported that there is not sufficient time for its full consideration at the present session, but recommend the passage of the following act:

'An act in relation to persons claimed in this state as fugitives from service or labor. It shall be the duty of the Attorney General whenever he is informed that any inhabitant of this state is arrested or claimed as a fugitive from service or labor, diligently and faithfully, at the expense of the state, to use all lawful means to protect, defend, and procure to be legally discharged, every such person so arrested or claimed.'
