Charley Vogelsberg spent Wednesday evening with friends in Cassville.
Schiffman & Flesch sold a handsome carriage last week to Mr. Champ Bonnett, of the town of Harrison.
Mrs. Genevieve Laughton was the guest of friends in Cassville last Wednesday.
Cap Schmitz has had a well drilled on the side hill back of his saloon and residence building. He is now constructing a concrete reservoir further up the hill with a capacity of 180 barrels of water. He will install a gasoline engine at the plant and when everything is fully completed he will be able to conduct water through all parts of his building.
Mrs. Henry Stohlmeyer, Mrs. Edith Krogg, and Miss Eva Wilmott were shopping in Dubuque Thursday.
The Ladies' Aid Society met with Mrs. A. B. Hurst at her hospitable home on the hill last Thursday.
A large class of children will receive their solemn first holy communion at St. Andrew's church next Sunday.
Chas. Neufang looked after business matters in Dubuque Thursday.
Robert H. Kendrick after several weeks pleasant visit with friends in Potosi returned to his home in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Monday.
Mike Huffnagel has completed a fine new frame residence for Peter Reuter down on Platte in the town of Paris. He is now engaged in building a large frame dwelling for Edward Costello and sister Mrs. Hennessy in the town of Potosi. This house when completed will be one of the largest and handsomest residences in this part of the country.
Herman Ott, of Preston, Minn., representing a Chicago dry goods house, was in Potosi a couple of days last week greeting old friends and looking after business.
Matt Elskamp and Miss Laura Wiedman will be married in St. Thomas Catholic church in Potosi Tuesday morning.
Joe Vogelsberg, T. H. Runkel, Gene Webb, Ambrose Seaton and Fred Grimm were in Dubuque Friday and witnessed the parade and drill of the U. S. troops now in camp in that city.
Mrs. Richter, wife of John Richter Sr., died at her home near British Hollow last Wednesday afternoon, aged 74 years. She is survived by her aged husband, one son and two daughters, two step-sons and three step daughters. The funeral took place Saturday forenoon from the residence to St. Andrew's Catholic church where requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Pape, who also officiated at the burial services. The interment was made in the new cemetery.
James O'Toole, for many years the popular and very efficient clerk for T. H. Runkel, resigned his position and departed for Montana Saturday afternoon. Jimmie will be missed by Mr. Runkel's many customers; he was well liked by every one and his going away causes much regret. He will be missed by the Potosi ball team as he was a first class field man.
Joseph Richter and son Frank, of Dubuque, John Richter, Jr., of Patch Grove and son Albert and daughter Mrs. Clara Myers, of Bloomington, attended the funeral of Mrs. Richter, Saturday.
A. W. Dickinson, wife and children and Miss Mayme Metcalf drove over to Benton last Thursday for a visit with friends and relatives, returning Sunday.
Charlie Ragatz made a business trip to Dubuque Saturday.
Miss Ida Udelhofen is visiting friends and relatives in Dubuque.
John D. Cenfield Sr., of Minneapolis, arrived here Saturday for a three weeks' visit with his son John D. Jr. Mr. Cenfield's many Potosi friends are pleased to see him.
Mrs. Chas. Jacobs, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, attended the funeral of her step-mother Mrs. Richter.
The festival of Corpus Christi was celebrated Sunday by the Catholics of St. Andrew's congregation in their customary elaborate manner; many hundreds of people took part in the ceremonies.
The banns of Peter Simon and Miss Amelia Schak were announced in St. Andrew's church Sunday morning.
E. A. Berge is in Milwaukee this week attending the Masonic Grand Lodge.
The lady managers of the Potosi millinery emporium will make a special sale on ladies' and children's trimmed hats, flowers, foliage, shapes, etc., Friday and Saturday, June 14th and 15th.
