UNION'S POWER IS LIMITED BY COURT IN UPHOLDING NLRB

WASHINGTON, Dec. 9.—The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld the National Labor Relations Board in limiting a union's power to have an employee fired from a closed shop.

A Labor Relations Board official said the Board has ordered the employee reinstated and obtained court enforcement of its order.

The union was the AFL Lumber and Sawmill Workers. This union called for the discharge of an employee by the Portland, Oregon, lumber mills after a bargaining election when a CIO union was defeated. Under the court ruling, the worker—who was on the opposing side in the voting—keeps his job.
