Savannah, Oct. 23, 1803.
The summer season has passed without any thing of great moment here, except the baptism of the Hon. Joseph Clay, jun. formerly District Judge, and a man of great learning. He has attached himself to the Baptist persuasion, and, it is understood, intends becoming a preacher of the word of God.—A Few likewise was converted, and has been lately baptized. These are joyful events, and afford comfort and encouragement to all Christians.
N. B. Since the above, accounts have been received that Mr. Clay has been licensed to preach, and is now in the exercise of his ministerial functions.
