GLOBE CONTINUES TO GROW IN FAVOR WITH THE WESTERN MINING INVESTORS

Globe continues to grow in favor with eastern mining people and the past few months have witnessed a wide distribution of the shares of the leading mining companies operating here. This district is now very generally admitted to be one of the most important of the copper producing districts of the United States, and because of its large extent and the limited development of its copper deposits, the tremendous possibilities of the district for the production of copper are recognized in mining circles.

Old Dominion, Miami, Arizona Commercial, Superior & Boston, Warrior, and National Mining Exploration have all received frequent and favorable notice in mining and financial publications, and also in the daily press of New York and Boston. The steadily increasing production of copper by the Old Dominion company during a period of great depression in the industry, and the phenomenal ore developments on the Miami Copper company's property, have had much to do with creating a better sentiment among mining men for Globe district.

Importance of Miami Development.

The Miami section possesses tremendous potentiality for the expansion of mining in Globe district and a growth in population and general business that should, in a few years, place Globe in advance of all other mining camps in the southwest.

The Miami company is continuing development with most satisfactory results, extending the drifts and crosscuts in the ore body, the limits of which are not yet in sight, and adding enormously to the ore blocked out. So great have been the ore developments that we understand the company has decided to increase the initial capacity of its mill from 1000 tons to 2000 tons.

While nothing official has been given out in regard to the extension of the railroad from Globe to the Miami company's property, a rumor comes from a very good source that the contract for grading the roadbed has been let and that the work is to begin within a few weeks. The construction of this piece of road, which will be about seven miles long, presents no engineering problems and should not require more than four months to complete. J. Parke Channing, consulting engineer for the Miami company, has prolonged his visit in order to lay out the engineering work for some time in advance, as he will not be able to return to Globe for several months.

The exploration of the Keystone property with churn drills will soon be under way and it is good opinion that the same character and extensive deposit of ore as opened in the Miami will be found in the Keystone.

Warrior Copper Company.

Development work at the Montgomery mine continues with gratifying results, and the sinking of No. 4 winze is progressing. It is at a depth of 133 feet at present. The crosscut at fifty feet in this winze is still in high grade ore, proving the ore body to be of large dimensions. Preparations have been made for crosscutting the ore body at the depth of 128 feet. Constant development work is also being done on the upper level.

A new steam plant is being installed, which, when completed and ready for use, will greatly facilitate the work in hand. The working force remains at about the same number employed during the past several weeks, but it is the intention of Superintendent White to materially increase this number in the very near future.

Regular shipments of ore continue with a daily tonnage of approximately fifty tons. An office and modern blacksmith shop and framing shed have been built recently at the level of the lower tunnel, which includes tool rooms, and a new mine supply house will be erected this week at this level. Other buildings will be moved to this location in the near future, and a new mine office will also be erected there.
