Building Wrecked and Fire Started from It.

Leaky Gas Jet Causes the Explosion—No One is Hurt by a Miracle—Loss will be Large—Marshall Jones has his Arm Broken in the Rush to the Blaze.

A gas explosion took place this afternoon at two thirty in the house occupied by the Mingo Glass Co., on the corner of Front and Pleasants streets. The damage by the explosion and consequent fire cannot be estimated but it will be heavy.

A leak in a gas pipe under the floor is responsible for the explosion. L. W. Joseph, Charles Allebaugh and Ed. Millan were engaged in repairing it.

A match was struck to locate the leak and the explosion followed. The lower floor was wrecked. It was stored full of glass ware. The fire department soon responded and the fire was soon put out.

F. M. Arnett occupied the upper floor but no damage was done up there except by water.

Marshall Jones had his left arm broken by being run over by one of the hose reels.

The upper floor occupied by F. M. Arnett sustained only water damage. No one was seriously hurt except Marshall Jones, whose left arm was broken by a hose reel.
