As plans continue to take shape for a "bang-up" President's Birthday Ball in the Baranof Hotel Gold Room Saturday night, Drive Chairman Robert J. Schoettler reminded Juneau again that all anti-infantile paralysis funds "come home from Washington."
In the nation-wide fight on infantile paralysis, a dread disease that may strike anywhere, fifty percent of funds raised are returned to the region from which they come and matched by Federal dollars.
"It's a good fight and a good chance to join the fight," Schoettler said, as dime banks on business counters filled and the sale of tags, greeting cards and dance tickets continued unabated.
Through an oversight in The Empire yesterday, the powerful annual anti-infantile paralysis drive, begun by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, was termed a drive on tuberculosis. The drive on tuberculosis is entirely separate from the President's Ball campaign.
