In the Supreme Court of Appeals, Monday, July 29, 1867, the case of Dean Venable and others vs. D. Coffman and others, upon a writ of supersedeas to a judgment of the Circuit Court of Greenbrier county, was argued by Mr. Lamb for the plaintiffs in error, occupying the time up to the hour of adjournment. Gov. Stanton will address the court to-day on behalf of the defendants. This case has excited considerable interest in the locality of Lewisburg, as the title to one of the Churches in that place is involved. The controversy is between the M. E. Church and the M. E. Church South, both parties claiming through Boards of Trustees, the ownership of the Church. The issue was tried in the court below and decided in favor of the M. E. Church, from which judgment the Board of Trustees representing the M. E. Church South, appealed. Court adjourned to 9 o'clock this morning.
