JAIL POPULATION JUMPS TO 75 DURING THE PAST WEEKEND

The county jail population grew by leaps and bounds over the weekend. Seventy-five persons were lodged in the local bastille over the weekend, according to Jailor Watson Whyte.

Over at W.Va. officers arrested about 30 persons from Big Creek district and put them in the town jail. Only a small number were put in Keystone jail while Northfork jail was empty over the weekend.

Most of the offenders were disorderly conduct. Many of them gave bond Sunday while others paid their fines this morning and went home.

Some, however, couldn't raise their fines and have to stay in jail for a few days.
