Juneau - Approval for expending $70,000 on the women's dormitory at the University of Alaska was given by the territorial board of administration last week after a conference with President Charles E. Bunnell. The board also approved $4000 for rehabilitation of the Eagle school.
The sum of $15,000 for establishment of three assay offices, one at Ketchikan, one at Fairbanks and one at Nome, along with $20,000 for the university power house, was held in abeyance pending further study of prospective territorial income.
The board is charged with studying possible income and comparing it with appropriations, then pruning or withholding some of the appropriations altogether if it appears likely to the board that the budget cannot otherwise be balanced.
