Are you tender hearted? Do you shed tears easily? Roy Ware has offered a prize of five dollars ($5.00) to the one who will read three verses of Psalms CXVII without crying. Look it up.
The farmers of this vicinity have finally gotten their oats stacked. Due to the wet weather the oats were very much damaged. Corn cutting and wheat sowing will soon be the order of the day. We are beginning to look for Jack Frost. The prospects for a chestnut crop are good. We hope Jack Frost waits until they mature. Some bee trees have been found near here this year. We think bears are numerous. The Wilson Lumber Co. is still felling trees on Windy Run. Mr. Arthur Gooden, head cook and Mr. Spencer Ware, cookee, have moved into Camp 29 on Logan Run. H. D. Ramsey is fencing the McAtee farm for the Wilson Lumber Co.
Mrs. Mary Ware has been visiting friends at Valley Head. Mrs. J. G. Ware has had a very painful abscess on her face, but is some better now. Elliot Ramsey has sold his farm to I. Z. Painter, and has purchased the J. R. Crickard farm. Miss Sylvia Hamrick, who has been staying with her Uncle Jacob Ware, has returned to her home at Marlinton. Our school is progressing very nicely. We all like school work and try to cooperate with our teacher in an effort to make ours a successful school. Mr. Lanta Ware is leaving us this week. He enters D. & E. College this year, and will stay with his sister Mrs. Lola Lary. Lanta is an industrious lad and we expect to hear of his good work in school. Nights are getting much cooler, days are getting shorter, some leaves are falling, these tell us that winter will soon be here.
The seasons swiftly pass,
Glad tidings they will bring,
Then be an optimist
To God His praises sing.
