DISLOCATES NECK
IN MAKING DIVE

Suffering from a dislocated neck, obtained when he dived into a swimming hole near the city late Saturday, S. A. Parker, well known fruit merchant of the city, lies in a serious condition at a local hospital today where he was rushed immediately after the accident occurred.

Mr. Parker in company with a crowd of friends was in swimming in Stoney creek at the country club, and was diving off into water when his head hit some obstruction beneath the surface which the injured man believes was a stake or something driven down in the bottom of the creek. Rescued while in an unconscious condition by Mrs. Robert L. Taylor of Newton, N. C., Mr. Parker was rushed to a local hospital where he was given speedy attention and an operation performed on his neck.

Hospital authorities stated this morning that they could not yet give the full extent of his injuries but that he was in a most serious condition. He was not unconscious very long it is stated, and was resting comfortably and as well as could be expected this morning.-Rocky Mount Telegram.
