Car Will Add About $2500 To $10,476.07 Already Reported In 1943 County War Fund Drive: Quota Far Exceeded
Los Mochis, Sinaloa, tomato growers have donated a carload of tomatoes to the American Red Cross.
Robert Marcus, chairman of the Red Cross War Fund Drive, said yesterday afternoon that through the efforts of Joe Bracker, prominent Tomatero, who contacted the growers, the car containing 650 lugs arrived here Wednesday and left yesterday for the East.
Growers who made the donation were: William Aguirre, 100 lugs, Bracker Brand; American Fruit Company, 100 lugs, Senorita Brand; Castaneda & Eng., 100 lugs, El Gallo Brand; Martin Estrada, 100 lugs, International Brand; Romulo Felix and associates, 200 lugs, Santa Rosa Brand: and Solomon Trachna, 50 lugs, Bracker Brand.
Enrique Lineiro, manager of C. F. Holler & Company, cleared the car without any brokerage charges.
Joe Bracker said the car was being sent direct to the New York Fruit Auction where it would probably bring more than the market price. He anticipates a sum between $2500 and $3000.
Far Over Quota
Entire proceeds of the sale, less freight and duty, will be turned over to Santa Cruz County Chapter 1943 Red Cross War Fund, adding a substantial amount to the $10,476.07 already reported and which already exceeds by 43 percent the quota of $7300 set for this county.
The local chapter's share of all funds raised is 41 percent, which amounts to $4295.19 on the $10,476.07

Total expenses of the 1943 drive to date has been only $85.75, Chairman Marcus announced.
A large 30-foot sign was placed on both sides of the tomato car when it reached here, the sign reading:
"This car of tomatoes donated to the American Red Cross by the Los Mochis, Mexico tomato growers."
Photographs were also taken to be sent to various produce journals and to the donors.
"The Santa Cruz County Chapter wishes to express its thanks to Mr. Bracker and the growers for this splendid donation and I am sure we will hear from National headquarters. It shows that our friends and allies in Mexico are united with us and that the Good Neighbor policy really exists here on the border," Chairman Marcus said yesterday.
