Patent Car Coupling.—This morning we were shown a patent car coupling, the result of Messrs. M. L. Smith and Robt. Hoopes' ingenuity. This coupling is designed to obviate the danger and trouble pertaining to the old system, and is so arranged that a whole train may be coupled in an instant and without the help of a single person, it merely requiring the engineer to back the cars into position and as each car coupling touches another the attachment is made complete. The present style of "bull noses," are used, also the open link and pin, and hence the patent may be easily applied to any coupling now in service. Mr. Smith started to-day for Washington to have the invention secured by letters patent. We hope he may be successful as we can see no reason why the coupling should not be gladly adopted by all railroad companies.—West Chester News.
