T. E. SHELTON TALKS ABOUT GUN TOURNAMENT THERE
Will Have Big Meet During Carnival in January at which Big Prizes will Be Given to Winners
T. E. Shelton, who was here yesterday from El Paso, stated that his city is going to have one of the biggest shooting tournaments during the midwinter carnival that have ever been held in the southwest. He says that the management of the shoot is depending upon Arizona to send a number of crack shots. Bisbee is expected to send a larger number than any other city in the territory.
"This tournament is going to offer inducements to the crack shots," said he, "that will certainly bring a large number of them into El Paso from the outside. The prize money of $1,000, which is to be given outside of the entrance fees, will make some of the events well worth contesting for.
"The gun club in El Paso is going to show what it can do in this line, and will spare neither pains nor expense to entertain all the outside marksmen who may be present. The shooting tournament will now be made one of the permanent fixtures of the carnival which is held each year in January. The gun tournaments in the southwest are becoming more popular all the time, and El Paso does not intend to be behind the cities of Arizona, which annually hold successful shoots.
"By writing to the El Paso Gun club any of the shooters in Bisbee who may want to attend the tournament, can get all the information they may want regarding the rules that will govern the different events. We are anxious to have as many come as possible, and will not be slow to show them every courtesy possible."
