About ten Days ago Capt. Brown arrived at New York from the West Indies, and brought with him 18 Masters of Vessels Passengers, who had been lately taken by the French and Spaniards and carried to St. Croix, Porto Rico, &c. several of whom belonged to this Place and came to Town last Week. by them we learn that the French Fleet sailed from Cape Francois for Old France, the 6th of September, consisting of 28 Sail, under convoy of 6 Ships of the Line, having on board the different Vessels, being Part of Durrether's Regiment, lately carried into the Cape, as formerly mentioned: 'tis said a number of transports with Spanish Soldiers on board, came out at the same time with the above Fleet, bound to the Havannah, for the relief of that Place, and are suppos'd to be the same that were seen to pass to Leeward, on finding the English were in possession of it as mentioned in the account from thence under New London Head.

'Tis also said that the Flag of Truce which sailed from hence for Cape Francois some time ago, to redeem two Hostages which were at that Place, was seized by the above mentioned Fleet as they were coming out, and carried with them to France.
