Full Text

POLITICAL.-It will be seen from the proceedings of two public meetings, holden in Newport, which will be found above, that Messrs. Tristam Burges and Dutee J. Pearce have been recommended as suitable persons to represent us in the United States Congress. For the last two years, those gentlemen represented us in that body, and gave general satisfaction to their constituents. We do not think they will meet with any opposition; and until competitors come up, it is to be hoped, that the press will be spared the trouble of canvassing their claims. It is sufficient to know that they have performed the duties assigned them by their constituents, and that they are entitled to the confidence of the State.
