Full Text

As before stated, there have been but two removals in this state—the den of Loco Focoism—much to the disappointment of the Whig party, who have been proscribed for the last 12 years. Petitions have gone forward for the removal of our postmaster, and the district attorney, none of which, as yet, have been acted upon. This has produced more dissatisfaction with our friends than the vetoes, as the President, in his address, said that an interference in elections by office holders, openly or covertly, should be a sufficient cause of removal. The Whigs of this city now call upon the President to fulfil this pledge. As good, or better, men may be found in the Whig ranks to fill these responsible and valuable offices: and the removal of these prominent Locos would serve as a rebuke to the self-confidence, exultations, arrogance and insolence that have been exhibited in the ranks of Loco-Focoism since the reception of the vetoes.
