TONOPAH GRAND JURY URGES
INVESTIGATION OF OFFICIALS

The Nye county grand jury applied to the district court recently for dismissal after having served the greater part of the year of industry.

The report submitted is the hottest kind of a proposition ever enrolled among the records of the district court as it virtually arraigns every one connected with the administration of the law in Tonopah for dereliction of duty, according to a special dispatch received by the Reno Gazette.

The jurors began by alleging that there would not have been any strike in Tonopah if prosecuting officers of the county had enforced the provisions of the criminal syndicalism law against the I. W. W. element.

The sheriff and town officers are told they have made no attempt to enforce the law regarding bootlegging or gambling, and that such offenses are carried on openly in Tonopah.

The report further states that the actions of the justice of the peace have not been such as befitted a public officer, and recommended that the incoming grand jury take immediate action to investigate this officer.

The bullion tax compromise was passed up with the statement that the alleged $1,500,000 due by the mining companies in unpaid bullion taxes had been compromised and the accused mining companies granted immunities from further prosecution.
