The English Swindle in Kansas.
The people of Kansas, as we anticipated,
reject with contempt the pitiful bribe
offered them by the administration as the
price of their liberties; they scout the idea
of receiving the Lecompton Constitution,
even when accompanied by a golden pill.
This action on their part, is sufficient ev-
idence if any were wanting, to prove to
the people of the Union, that they are de-
termined to maintain their independence
and freedom at all hazards, and that the
corrupt administration at Washington has
not gold nor land enough at its disposal
to buy them. The men of Kansas should
be honored and respected for the noble
spirit they have evinced in thus treating
the general government in its last efforts
to subjugate them to the slave interest.
