FOR THE N. H. STATESMAN.

TO THE FREEMEN OF NEW-HAMPSHIRE.

Ye Whigs of New-Hampshire, awake!

And join the battle cry;

Awake! awake! and defend

Your liberties—or die.

Ye rocks of the wild Granite State.

Proclaim the stirring sound!

Ye hills and ye vallies awake!

The echoing peal resound.

The spirit of Freedom's abroad.

New-York has bow'd at her shrine—

Kentucky, Rhode Island and Maine,

Have started—her phalanx to join.

Oppression's too long had the rule—

The trial-hour has come:

Let tyranny shake on her throne!

Let traitors read their doom!

Then arouse ye, Men of the North,

Assert your liberty;

New-Hampshire. SHE CAN, and SHE WILL,

Support the cause of the free.
