THE
STEAMER
STARR

Daily she wends her cheery way
Along the windy Westward,
Bearing besides her human freight
Furs and supplies thru Harding Gate.

Wind-swept waters, icy spray
White caps and icebergs, hinder way;
But what cares "Cap" Johansen!
When storms arise with bleary eyes.
To gaze upon the Starr with greed,
And winds lash forth from bitter north
Little does "Cap" Johansen heed.

"What ho!" says he. "let hail stones
fall,
Or sleet from the North-like cannon
balls,
"The better the day the better the
deed,"
And with bluereyed smile he punct-
ures his weed.
