If all the members could be present, and those north of Delaware, who have not voted, should vote in the affirmative, and those south of that state vote in the negative, the votes would stand (deducting Darby, dead, and Culpepper, seat vacated) ayes 80, noes 60. Of this number 94 will be required to make two thirds.
We have made this statement with a view to shew, that if the Senate and House of Representatives should pass the bill for removing the seat of government, that the refusal of the President to sign it, will prevent it from going into a law.
It was some time since, that reports were in circulation, that an attempt would be made to remove the seat of government during the present session, but as Jemmy Sloan was said to be the prime mover, the report was disregarded; we now apprehend that persons of more "management" than Sloan are at the bottom of this business. We should not be surprized much, if this affair has an intimate connexion with an important approaching election.
