The annual Community Christmas Tree entertainment was held on Christmas Eve in Pioneer Hall under the auspices of the Moose Lodge and Community Christmas Tree Committee. The program included two playlets entitled: "The Doll Take a Hand" and "A Little Boy's Christmas Dream," in which the characters were represented by little folks. There was also a vocal solo by Miss Maye Coombs, and a violin solo by Johnnie Barron.
Participants in the first of the playlets were Dorothy Mehlfeld, who represented Santa Claus; Lillian Stewart, as Mrs. Santa Claus; Earl Haughn, Dutch doll; Mona Mehlfeld, Rag doll; June Mehlfeld, Japanese doll; Roy Peters, Eskimo doll; Nina Peters, French doll. The following represented Brownies: Bruce Thomas, Wendell Fehring Elsworth Thurman. Little Brownies were Thoburn and Canterbury Hatten and Johnnie Barron. Lillian Stewart also took the part of a Fairy Queen with "Bubbles" Lyon and Betty Mahood as her attendants. The kiddies acquitted themselves in excellent manner and were loudly applauded for their efforts.
The cast of "A Little Boy's Christmas Dream" was made up of a number of juvenile actors and actresses in the first play and some of the real tiny folks, including Bubbles Lyon, Betty and David Mahood and Betty Hovland. The various characters represented were angels, wise men, shepherds, toys reindeer and a Christmas tree. The program was under the direction of Miss Coombs. The larger part of the presents were provided from funds donated by the Moose Lodge and the citizens of the community, apples by Edgar Proynise; nuts by Yael Rozenstain, blocks by Merl Thomas, candy and oranges by Hyder Grocery candy by the Midget Emporium and cash donations were given by the Hyder Drug Co. and the Midget Emporium.
