Full Text

Letter from Yarmouth, dated Oct. 2.

I can with Pleasure inform you, that the Herring Fishery has been greater this Season than has been known for many Years past, which makes us full Amends for the two last Years of Scarcity. The Nine English Busses have had their Share, and are now chock full, having been obliged to throw many Last over-board, which they could not cure. Had there been ten times as many Busses they could not have failed of reaping the like Golden Harvest, which these Nine have come.

Yours,
A Fisherman

Event Details

The herring fishery this season has been greater than known for many years, making amends for the two previous years of scarcity. The nine English busses have taken their share and are now full, having thrown overboard many lasts of fish they could not cure. Even ten times as many busses would have succeeded similarly.
