PRICES KEEP UP WELL.
The lowly spud seems to have come into its own this year. While much of the crop is being rushed from the field to the market in a way that would ordinarily cause a bad slump, prices are holding firm. The Bagley prices have taken a jump recently, in some quarters of the state having gone up to $1.85 where speculators were buying heavily, altho the Chicago market does not warrant the price. Evidently those in close touch with the potato market look for a further increase and are taking speculative chances.
If farmers will only go a little bit easy with their hauling, and not let the price now paid stampede them into dumping their whole crop onto the market at once, it looks as tho this year should help make up for some of the loss of last year as well as pay well for the work of the season.
