THE WIND-UP.

Dental Society Adjourns.

Dr. W. T. Magill Elected President—
Other Officers—Resolutions and
General Proceedings.

YESTERDAY'S PROCEEDINGS.

In the State Dental society, yesterday
afternoon was devoted to Dr. Moody's
essay on "Post-Graduate Study," followed
by a general discussion of it, and
miscellaneous business. A resolution
was unanimously adopted tendering the
thanks of the society to Mr. Ben Harper,
proprietor of the Harper house, for the
hospitality and excellent fare afforded the
members, and particularly the clerks and
steward, "who have spared no efforts to
make our stay pleasant and agreeable."

THIS MORNING

was devoted principally to the business
of the society. Among other expenditures
voted was that $100 be placed in
the hands of the state board of examiners
for use if necessary. Drs. L. E.
Snyder, of Henry, and G. B. Dillon, of
Sterling, were elected members, and
several suggestions were offered as to revisions
of the laws of the society and
code. Dr. J. G. Reid, of Chicago, read
an essay on "Oral Chemistry" which led
to an interesting discussion and Dr.
Black gave another of his talks on micro-
organisms.

The society then proceeded to wind
up its business, and extended its session
through the noon hour in order to dispense
with reassembling in the afternoon. The

ELECTION OF OFFICERS

for the ensuing year, resulted as follows:

President—W. T. Magill, Rock Island.
Vice President—C. B. Rohland, Alton.
Secretary—J. W. Wassall, Chicago.
Assistant Secretary—Louis Ottofy,
Chicago.
Treasurer—T. W. Pritchett, Whitehall.
Librarian—W. B. Ames, Chicago.
Member of the Executive committee
for three years—P. J. Kester, Chicago.

Jacksonville was decided upon as the
place of holding the next annual meeting
it having gained a majority of votes over
Galesburg, Bloomington, and Ottawa.

THANKS TO THE MAYOR.

The following resolution was
then
adopted by unanimous vote:

Resolved that the thanks of the society
are due and are hereby tendered to his
honor, Mayor Thomas Murdock, for the
use of the council chamber for the holding
of our present session and that the
secretary be instructed to send a copy of
this resolution to the mayor.

Drs. Sturgis and J. A. W. Davis were
appointed a committee to escort the newly
elected president to the chair, which
they did, and Dr. Magill made his address,
thanking the society for the honor
conferred upon him, and pledging himself
to discharge the duties of the office
to the best of his ability. The retiring
president made a few remarks, and the
president was appointed to deliver the
annual address at the next meeting, and
the society adjourned sine die.
