The Washington steamer reached New York on Thursday in about thirteen days from Southampton. She brought as passengers, G. P. R. James the novelist and the Hungarian Count and Countess Dembinski. Count Dembinski was an aid of Kossuth's; he escaped from confinement in Turkey and with his wife sought refuge in this country. The Washington brought an immense cargo of most valuable goods from Germany and France, consisting of over 500 tons measurement, of silks, laces, satins, jewelry, watches, rich dresses, shawls, &c., to the value of over one million of dollars.
