Legion Officials Round Out Plans for Great Armistice Day Fete
BRAWLEY, Nov. 9—With scarcely two days left before Armistice day, American Legion officials in charge of the county-wide celebration to be held in Brawley this year, put finishing touches on the most sensational and outstanding patriotic event ever held in Imperial Valley.

First on the program is an Armistice eve ball, to be staged Wednesday night at the Dunlack hotel. Already many reservations have been made for the big dance, and the committee in charge of the affair predicts that this ball will be the biggest success of the season.

Probably the most sensational feature of the celebration will be the maneuvers of the United States Army planes over Brawley Thursday morning.

Steve Lefner, chairman of the parade committee, through connections at March Field, secured the co-operation of the air corps for the celebration.

Meanwhile, American Legion officials from every section of Imperial Valley, report interest in the big parade starting at 10 a.m. Armistice Day.

Ten bands, thirty-five patriotic floats, and a number of marching units have already been pledged to the parade. The musical units already entered are: The Mexicali Military band, the Swiss Club band from Holtville, the Calexico, El Centro, and Brawley high school bands, the El Centro Girl's Drill Team band, the El Centro Junior Police band, the Brawley Japanese drum and bugle corps, the Brawley American Legion drum and bugle corps, and the Horace Williams band.

Among twenty-five marching units pledged to the parade are two battalions of Mexicali Mexican Army troops.

Immediately following the parade there will be patriotic speaking in the Plaza park and a free lunch.

During the afternoon the Brawley and El Centro junior college football teams will engage each other on the Brawley high school gridiron as a part of the Armistice day celebration.

"Armistice day officials are extremely pleased over the comment and interest shown in this year's county-wide patriotic demonstration," Fred Trude, general chairman of the committees declared.
