THE ANDERSON FIRE.
A Horse Badly Burned and Thirty Chickens Roasted Alive.

The fire in the Seventh Ward, which occurred Sunday morning at 5 o'clock, was, as the Herald announced, the barn of Scott Anderson, or rather of his son, Robert Anderson, a young man industrious and well esteemed, who continued his father's business of bill poster and show card painter in this city. There is no theory as to the cause of the fire, except that of incendiarism, both Mr. Robert Anderson and Chief Ottinger inclining to this opinion. Thirty chickens which roosted in the barn, were roasted alive, and the family horse was burned so badly that it is not thought it will survive.

The animal was lying upon the ground, kicking and nearly choked with smoke when Mr. Anderson burst open the stable door. It was with the utmost difficulty that the horse was pulled out of the burning building, and a curious fact in connection with the case, is that after having been gotten clear of the fire the animal manifested an apparently wild desire to return to its stall. The loss was not more than $300 or so, but it will prove a severe one to the Anderson family, as the horse was so generally used in their business. The Tribune will doubtless see in the fire the act of Mormon spite against Scott Anderson. However that may be, Mr. Robert Anderson does not share that opinion, but says it is his belief that the incendiary was some one who wished to injure his business, as this is the second attempt to burn the stable in which the horse was kept.
