The Red Men in New Mexico.

WASHINGTON, June 1.—The following dispatch, dated Mescalero, N. M., June 1, was received at the Indian office to-day from the agent at that point: "Hostile Indians are reported within twenty-five miles west of here, heading this way. Three troops of cavalry under Major Van Horn started yesterday to intercept them. Forty Mescalero scouts accompanied the troops at the request of Major Van Horn and Indian Agent Llewellyn accompanied them. Mescaleros and Jicarillas are all quiet. There is no fear of their joining the hostiles."
