GARRET D. WALL'S PATRIOTISM.—We have a solution, at last, of the earnestness of the Hon. Senator from New Jersey, in the following:

Bets Garret D. Wall that the Whig ticket for Congress, in N. Jersey, will be elected, one hundred dollars. He also bets Garret D. Wall that the Whigs will have a majority in the joint meeting of the Legislature, one hundred dollars. These bets to be decided by the result of the election to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday next.

Philadelphia, Oct. 3, 1838.

Copy of Garret D. Wall's letter to the Stakeholder.

Trenton, Oct. 31, 1838.

Dear Sir:—You must not give up the bet as to the Congress election, in New Jersey. The awarding the commissions to the Whig candidates by the Whig Governor and Council is so outrageously repugnant to all law and principle, that I shall not submit to it. I shall abide the final decision of Congress. Yours, respectfully,

GARRET D. WALL.
