Correspondent observes that in several Reigns in the English Annals, particular PARLIAMENTS have been honoured or dishonoured with certain merited Epithets, for the good or bad Statutes by each enacted, In the 29th Year of E. 3. the Statute of Treasons was enacted; this Parliament was called Benedictum Parliamentum. the blessed Parliament: the Parliament holden at Oxford, Anno 42, H. 3. was call'd Insanum Parliamentum, the mad Parliament. 12. E. 2. Parliamentum albarum Fibularum, aut Metallarum, the Parliament of Whitebands. 5. E. 3. Parliamentum bonum, the good Parliament. Io. R. 2. Parliamentum quod fecit mirabilia, the Parliament that wrought Wonders. 21. R. 2. Magnum Parliamentum, the great Parliament. 6. H. 4 Parliamentum indoctum, the Lack-Learning Parliament. 4. H. 6 Parliamentum Fustium, the Parliament of Bats. 14 H.8 Nigrum Parliamentum, the black Parliament. 1. E. 6. Parliamentum Pium, the pious Parliament. 1. Marie. Parliamentum propitium, the merciful Parliament. The Parliaments of Queen Elizabeth were titled, pia, justa, & provida, the pious, just and good. The Parliament holden 21st of King James was called Felix Parliamentum, the happy Parliament; and the Parliament holden in the 3d Year of the late King Charles, Benedictum Parliamentum, the blessed Parliament; the several Reasons of these Appellations appear of Record, and in History; he would be glad to know what Name, Epithet or Appellation, the Bostonians would chuse to confer on the Parliament Anno 14. Geo. 3. in which has originated a late Statute, commonly called the Boston Port-Bill an Answer may perhaps clear some conjectural Doubts.
