BOSTON, January 4.

NEWS from the West-Indies.

Extract of a Letter from Barbados, Nov. 2:

Here have been raised in this Island 500 land forces, besides a considerable Number of Negroes, which are to serve on board the Fleet destined to attack Martinico; they are to be divided likewise into ten regular companies, under the command of the following officers, viz.

Sir John Yeomans, Bart. Colonel: Robert Corbet, Maxwell Adams, Jacob Smith, William Thomas, John Martindell, R. Forcharston, Paul Carrington, D. Plaitoe, and B. Joslin, Captains; with Lieutenants, Ensigns, Serjeants, Corporals, &c. as usual.

The inhabitants have contributed the sum of 1000 pounds towards forwarding the said expedition.

The following is the List of the Men of War going on the Expedition, as taken from the St. Kitts Gazette of Dec. 2.

6400 Land Forces from Belleisle.

A Letter from a Gentleman in St. Eustatia, dated the 6th of December says,

"THE English Fleet is arrived at Barbados, consisting of 20 Sail of the Line, 10 Frigates and three Bombs, with a Number of Transports having on board six Thousand Troops for the intended EXPEDITION against MARTINICO."

Saturday last Capt. Parsons arrived here in 26 Days from St. Eustatia, who says,

That before he sailed from that Island a Report prevailed that the Fleet of Men of War and Transports from England, with Troops, &c. that were to go on the Expedition against Martinico, as also the Fleet from New-York, were both safe arrived at Guadaloupe, all in good Health and high Spirits; and that they were soon to proceed on Action.
