CHATHAM, March 27.

By accounts from New-York, we learn, that a detachment of about 400 men, sailed last week, supposed on a pickarooning expedition, towards Tom's river or Egg-Harbour:

That nothing can exceed the animosity subsisting between General Clinton and Admiral Digby:--That the Prince is recalled to the royal presence;--That the inhabitants are obliged to work on the fortifications constructing for the defence of the city:--That a vast number of the inhabitants are preparing to sail for England:--That the 30 light transports which lately sailed from New-York had arrived at Charlestown, and it was generally believed would bring off the garrison.
