gambling
activities in
Key West this morning when ten
men were
arrested
on gaming
charges.
Raymond Portier,
25, of 108
Geraldine Street was arrested at
8:00 a.m. this morning on Petronia Street by Police
Officer
J. Braxton following an
alleged
Bolita
transaction.
Also
taken
into custody
was
Tom
Porter,
1100 Thomas
Street
who
was
charged with "gambling by the
purchase of a Bolita ticket."
Police confiscated $3.00 in cash
and a pair of Bolita tickets. Bond
for the pair was set at $100 for
appearance in Municipal Court.
At 12:55 this morning, Police
swooped down on an alleged
gambling den in the KY Club
and arrested R. L. Smith charging
him with "setting up and
operating a game of chance for
money." Bond for Smith was set
at $100.
Also taken into custody in the
raid and charged with "loitering
in a gambling establishment"
were: John Gedson, a shrimper;
A. Perry of 1016 Howe Street;
Lou Gedson, a shrimper; W. A.
Kemp of 220 Olivia Street; Pembroke
King of 305 Petronia
Street;
James Brown of 713
Windsor Lane and A. Greene, no
address.
Bond for these men was set
at $50.
