The lightning, on Saturday, killed two heifers and burnt a barn in Fitchburg. In Hubbardston, Major Davis' barn was burnt, with 25 tons of hay, insured at Worcester; also a barn in Lunenburg; also Mr. Stockwell's barn in Templeton, where the woods were set on fire, and the meeting house and several dwelling houses struck. In Westminster, Isaac Seaver's house was struck, and Nancy Perry, aged 14, instantly killed; Mrs. Seaver was knocked down, but not greatly injured. Several houses were struck in South Gardner, but without material damage.
