HOLIDAY TRIP
SAN DIEGO, June 29. (U.P.)-Destroyers and light cruisers of the
United States fleet began leaving
their San Diego bases today for
Fourth of July assignments at principal
cities of the Pacific coast.
Assignments included:
Truxton to Crescent City; Litchfield,
Southard, Chandler, and Long to Eureka;
Hovey to Reymond; Bainbridge and Sturtevant to
Hoquiam; Goff and Reuben James to
Anacortes.
Omaha (light cruiser) to Tacoma;
Milwaukee (light cruiser) to Everett;
Detroit (light cruiser) and Altair (tender) to Seattle;
Decatur, Evans and Wickes to San Francisco,
and Twiggs to Santa Barbara.
Roper and Leu to Stockton; Dorsey
to Richmond; Perry, Trever,
Wasmuth and Zane to Bellingham.
Wednesday the Wright, flagship
of base force aircraft, will leave for
San Francisco. Tenders Gannet and
Thrush will leave at the same time
for Astoria and Seattle. The MacLeish
will start Thursday for Cayucos.
The Simpson will go to Huntington
Beach, the McCormick to Oceanside,
the light cruiser Concord and destroyers
Pruitt and Dallas to San Pedro, the destroyer
Alden to Newport harbor.
