Fifteen Year Old Addie Clifton Poured Coal Oil Into Stove.
While pouring coal oil from a can into a stove to make the fire burn more freely, shortly after 7 o'clock Saturday evening, Addie Clifton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. Clifton of Garasbe's Lane near Heald street, set fire to her clothes and was burned to a crisp.
Her father endeavored to extinguish the flames and wrapped a piece of carpet about her. The flames were finally extinguished. The girl was carried to her room where pieces of half burned clothing were removed from her. The skin in places was hanging off. Dr. Forrest was summoned but she was beyond earthly aid and expired in a few hours. She was about 15 years of age.
Her father was severely burned about the hands and arms while trying to save his daughter.
