Reports from Presbyteries relating to ministers and probationers were committed to a committee.

A report purporting to be from a convention of Ministers and Probationers was presented by Dr. Baxter, to receive a paper prepared by the Rev. Mr. Beman, D. D. of Troy, on the grounds recently held in Philadelphia, was opposed as an express violation of the rules of the General Assembly, and an express violation of the common practice of the General Assembly.

The member from North Carolina spoke in favor of the motion, and was again replied to by Dr. Beman. The discussion was continued by Mr. Breckenridge of Baltimore, Dr. McAuley of New York, and others from Charleston, when the question was decided to receive the paper, and it was referred to the committee on overtures.
