SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Savannah State College Summer Theatre under the direction of J. B. Clemmons, Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Savannah State, will present a three-act comedy entitled "He Couldn't Marry Five" in Meldrim Auditorium on Friday, July 18, 1952. Curtain time is 8:00 p.m.
The play will be the first presented by the 1952 Summer Theatre group. John Watkins, a junior from Greenville, S.C., will play the lead male role and Miss Jolene Belin, a senior from Bainbridge, Georgia, and Miss Jewel Grant of Savannah, regularly enrolled at Howard University, Washington, D.C., will co-star in the lead female roles. Other members of the cast are: Miss Beverly Ann Brown, Thunderbolt, Georgia; Mr. James Givens; Mrs. Geneva O. Bray; Miss Myrtice James, Thunderbolt; Mrs. Evelyn Wright, Thunderbolt; Mrs. Gloria S. Baker, Savannah; and Miss Lizetta Footman, Quitman, Georgia.
"He Couldn't Marry Five" is a typical American family story in which there are five daughters. All of the daughters attempt to marry the same young man. An old maid aunt adds to the complications by not wanting the girls to marry and she finally finds that she is in love with the young man. Granny keeps everything under control with her even temper and experience.
