Vienna, May 4, O. S.

The Emperor's Resolution is fixed to declare War against the Porte, on the Return of the Couriers lately sent to Petersburg with a Copy of the Declaration. Colonel Bernclau is made Major-General, and is setting out from thence for the Russian Army, attended by above 30 Engineers and other experienced Officers. It is now resolved, that the Army to be formed in Hungary will be in Four different Bodies. The First near Semlin, to consist of 24 Battalions, 19 Companies of Grenadiers, and 64 Squadrons, and to be commanded by Count Seckendorff, who is to have under him the Counts Philippi and Khevenhuller, Generals of the Horse; Wuchschlednitz, Wallis, Petraich, Stirum, Bathiani, Cavanagh, and Charles Palfi, Lieutenant-Generals; 12 Major-Generals, and a Quarter-Master-General. The second Body near Vipalanka, consisting of 23 Battalions, 28 Companies of Grenadiers, and 28 Squadrons, to be commanded by General Schmettau, who is to have under him Count Wurmbrand, General of the Horse; the Lieutenant-Generals Leutrum, Thungen, Miglio, and Stein; and Five Major Generals. The Third in Transilvania, consisting of 38 Squadrons, and 12 Battalions, under the Command of Count Francis Wallis, with Two Lieutenant-Generals, and Five Major-Generals. These three Armies, consisting of about Seventy Thousand Men, besides the Saxon Auxiliaries, and the Hungarian Militia, are to join and make but one Army, under the Command of the Field-Marshal Count Seckendorff, 'til the Arrival of the Duke of Lorrain. The Fourth Body is to act separately, under the Conduct of the Prince of Saxony Hildeburghausen; who is to have Three Lieutenant-Generals, and Six Major-Generals, under him: His Army is to consist of 15 Battalions, 13 Companies of Grenadiers, and 33 Squadrons, besides 20,000 Croatians. It is impossible to express the Vastness of our Preparations for a vigorous and bloody War: In short, they infinitely surpass any Thing that was ever known in any of our former Wars against the Porte.
